New post on my new blog. Nobody loves it yet. :( My husband says this is because I’ve chosen a silly title. I thought a silly title was better than a boring one.
This is my new blog. I’d be delighted if you would follow it. Not much on there yet, but I have big plans. BIG plans…
A COVENTRY bar has sparked outrage by turning away the friends and family of city soldier Michael Thacker before his funeral - because they were wearing their military uniforms.
Yep, this is a pretty shitty thing to do.
Although the thing that struck me about this story is I’ve been hearing stories from people for years about people being denied entry to this bar, basically because their face doesn’t fit. This has included ethnic minorities and people with disabilities, and yet no one has publicly called for a boycott before, neither has it, as far as I’m aware, made the news.
Some white privileged males are denied entry and suddenly everyone goes bananas. At least it is making people aware of the kind of bar this is. But I just wonder who stands up for the less advantaged people.
But equally please don’t get me wrong - I do think this was an appalling and heartless thing to do. And, as I say, just shows Browns for the kind of bar that it is.
One of the slightly frustrating things about studying part-time is that you can just be getting really into your studying when you have to go to work.
I am lucky enough to work part-time - I do three and a half days a week, with Tuesdays and Wednesday afternoons off. (I can’t imagine what it would be like trying to study for a Masters with a full time job - even with part-time study, but I know some people do it…)
So today I got really into my studying (I’ve finished for the day now, as my brain does not function into the evening), and feel like all I want to do when I wake up tomorrow is dive straight back into my books and my essay writing. But I have to go to work.
At least it’s my half day tomorrow.
